Ghost Archive
installation, objects, acrylic glass, 10 pcs 2x3x2, 2026
Fragments of acrylic glass are engraved with photographs from the artist’s family archive, which today exists only in digital form: the physical photo albums and the places where the images were taken remain in the occupied territory of the Kherson region and are inaccessible.
The photographs cannot be viewed without an additional action — either closely scrutinizing the small, grey contours on the transparent material, or “illuminating” the objects with a flashlight, where the projected images enlarge but lose their sharpness. Neither method allows for a complete viewing; instead, both render it impossible. None of these methods allows for a complete viewing and makes it impossible - it is a deliberate inability to see.
Installation was presented at the exhibition ‘Rhizome’, Südflügel KulturBahnhof. Kassel, Germany
