The rhizome is one of the most important and best-known concepts in the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. It describes the world as a network with no single centre. Like a rootstock, it spreads out in various directions, having neither a single beginning nor an end. In the rhizome, all elements are of equal value: any point can connect to another, forming an infinite network of links. This is an image of multiplicity, openness and constant transformation, which stands in contrast to linear structures.

At the heart of the project lies the processual state of exile, where the experience of exile is constantly changing and transforming. Every person carries with them something that remains with them under any circumstances and inevitably influences their identity: at the same time, this helps to maintain integrity, provides support, becomes a source of strength, or may serve as a trial, a limitation or a challenge. Each individual story forms a new, collective dimension — the collective exists through the uniqueness of each experience and, at the same time, reflects it.

A transplanted tree serves as an example: the soil between the roots disappears over time, yet continues to exert an influence, much like how lived experience, space and memory shape us and remain defining, even when the physical connection to them is lost.

The artists present their individual stories, which together form a collective dimension, whilst the landscape emerges as a metaphor — a space we always carry with us, regardless of our physical presence.
