This year I’m not going home for Christmas

installation, photo, curtain, tablecloth, street marker, 2023

The installation was created on the eve of the New Year holidays at the end of 2023. It is an imitation of a room where a festive table is set. Here, the author refers to her family tradition of celebrating in the main room of her grandparents' apartment. The curtain depicts flowers from the window sill, and the tablecloth a variety of dishes. In the corner of the room, you can see a photo from the author's personal archive, from which other elements are imitated.
With this project, the author continues to reflect on the theses of presence and absence, accessibility and inaccessibility at the same time (her grandparents are under occupation, it is impossible to get to them, respectively, at the time of the installation creation, the author had not been home from January 2022).

The installation was presented at the exhibition "Nobody. Nowhere. Never. Far away!", Dnipro Contemporary Culture Centre, DCCC, Dnipro, Ukraine
